Description
Stay on the Chuck — Type C Covers Most SK114 Work
A larger-diameter version of one of Axminster's most versatile and popular jaw sets, the SK114 Type C expands into a 70 mm (2.76") dovetailed recess or grips a 56 mm (2.20") spigot via the stepped internal shoulder. The dovetail profile pulls the workpiece tighter into the jaws as they close, holding small bowls, boxes, goblets, and general bowl work with the same reliable bite.
True-circle diameters are 70 mm recess or 56 mm spigot; the practical range stretches from 52–67 mm (2.05"–2.64") internal and 65–80 mm (2.56"–3.15") external when you can accept some loss of perfect roundness. Stainless steel construction protects against corrosion.
Native to the SK114 chuck — bolts directly to the SK114 accessory mounting jaws factory-fitted on every Evolution SK114. The Type C profile also accepts a range of direct-loading accessories like screw chucks, faceplate rings, and Morse taper carriers, so you may never need to remove the chuck from your lathe.

In Detail
The Type C profile is one of the most popular jaw sets in the Axminster range. This is the SK114-native version — built to bolt straight onto the chuck's factory-fitted mounting jaws without an adapter. The stepped internal shoulder enables internal gripping on a spigot, which is what makes Type C particularly useful for end-grain work like boxes and goblets where you need a positive hold without an external recess.
Combined with the wide range of direct-loading accessories (screw chucks, faceplate rings, Morse taper carriers), the Type C means you may never need to remove the chuck from your lathe to swap setups. For a Type C profile that fits both the SK100 and the SK114 (with the SK100 mounting jaws as an adapter), see the Type C Dovetail Jaws (100mm, SK100).
