The Most Secure Way to Hold a Mid-Size Bowl

For mid-size bowl and platter work, the Type A Plus expands into a 100 mm (3.94") dovetailed recess or grips an 80 mm (3.15") dovetail spigot — the most secure and most accurate way to hold a piece on the lathe during turning. The dovetail profile pulls the workpiece tighter into the jaws as they close, instead of relying on serration to bite the wood.

True-circle diameters are 80 mm spigot or 100 mm recess; the practical range stretches from 72–93 mm (2.83"–3.66") internal and 95–116 mm (3.74"–4.57") external when you can accept some loss of perfect roundness. Stainless steel construction protects against corrosion.

Recommended for SK100 and SK114 chucks. The SK100 ships ready to mount these directly. To use them on the SK114, you'll need the SK100 Accessory Mounting Jaws (sold separately) since the SK114 ships with SK114-specific mounting jaws.

The Type A Plus is the larger-capacity Type A — designed for mid-size bowls and platters where the standard Type A doesn't reach. The dovetail profile gives you the most secure hold on the lathe, pulling the workpiece tighter as the jaws close.

On the SK100 chuck, these mount directly to the supplied accessory mounting jaws. To use them on the SK114, fit the SK100 Accessory Mounting Jaws (sold separately) — the SK114 ships with its own SK114-specific mounting jaws by default.
