It's hard to beat the strength and beauty of a precise, hand-cut dovetail joint. However, the process of keying and fine-tuning dovetail joints can be very time consuming. Enter the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig, providing a quicker and more efficient way to cut accurate dovetails, plus five other common woodworking joints, with a router.

Half Blind Dovetails Used primarily for drawer box construction, half blind dovetails show the pins and tails on one side of the joint, while remaining completely invisible on the other. This makes them ideal for fastening drawer fronts to drawer sides.	Sliding Dovetail Frequently used in case work to connect shelves to side walls or between shelves in drawer dividers, sliding dovetails are deceptively simple joints to make using this jig.	Through Dovetail As one of the strongest joints available, the through dovetail is aesthetically pleasing while offering a large gluing area. It will also hold together even without glue!
Box/Finger Ideal for making boxes and other solid cube shapes such as chests and carcasses, precise comb or finger joints offer castellations with a very long glue line.	Groove/Housing Useful for adding partitions into cabinets and bookcases, a groove/housing joint is a strong and reliable joint that's simple to make. A trench is cut into which the end of another component is inserted.	Corner Dovetail Rebates Simple to construct, corner dovetail rebates enable mating parts to align easily and accurately. Furthermore, they create a larger gluing surface which provides a greater load-bearing capability than standard butt joints.

The UJK Universal Dovetail Jig kit was designed to enable you to work more efficiently, saving time and effort. It comes standard with key features—like dust collection and a larger surface area—typically reserved for competitors' more expensive dovetail jigs.

Integrated Dust Collection Held in place by a strong magnetic strip, the dust extraction outlet is easily detached when loading workpieces into your dovetail jig.	Greater Surface Area The jig features a stabilizer bar located in front of the comb, which provides a much greater surface area to support your router's base.
No Training Required Unlike other, more complicated dovetail and jointing jigs, the UJK Universal Dovetail Jig is simple to set up and use. It comes complete with an instruction manual, plus there's several helpful videos available online for quick setup.	Accuracy & Strength Come Together The base of this jig is heavy gauge steel with other parts precisely CNC machined. Furthermore, the super-hard anodized finish on the finger templates ensures long term accuracy.

Getting to Work

Setup and use of the UJK Dovetail Jig kit is simple. An 11mm offset at each end of the template greatly speeds up initial marking. Fast cam action clamps hold your workpieces quickly and securely.

This jig has a material capacity of 300mm (11.8") in width and a dovetail thickness range of 6 to 25mm (approximately 1/4" to 1").

The jig comes with three 1/4" shank Axcaliber precision ground TCT router cutters, a matched pair for dovetailing (7-degree dovetail and straight), and a 12.5mm straight cutter. Also included are two American-style threaded guide bushes and full instructions. An 8mm-1/4" sleeve is also supplied.

Router Compatibility

The jig can be used with any router that will accept 1/4", 8mm, or 1/2" shank cutters. An additional Leigh guide bush adapter to suit your router should be purchased separately.
